This site is meant to provide resources for individuals and groups interested in defending childhood, play-based learning, and general goofiness.
As a society, we too frequently make bad choices concerning our children. We are over-scheduling them, pushing developmentally inappropriate curriculum and academic practices, hindering opportunities for play-based learning, and generally sucking a lot of the fun out of being a child.
Simply put, we are stealing childhood.
There are a lot of parents, child care providers, teachers, and grandparents who have an instinctive gut feeling we are collectively making wrong-headed decisions. Many others want to do right by the children in their lives, but do not know what right-headed decisions look like.
Our goal is to provide information, support, confidence, and direction for those who want to help children enjoy their early years and build strong foundations for future learning.
